Starting Sunday, December 18, Hanshin Bus’s “Amagasaki-Ashiya Line” will apparently change to the “Amagasaki-Nishinomiya Line.”

What will change?
The “Amagasaki-Ashiya Line” will become the “Amagasaki-Nishinomiya Line.”
Simply put, buses will only depart from and arrive at “Hanshin Nishinomiya”.
As a result, some stops that were reachable on the Amagasaki-Ashiya Line will no longer be served.
Stops that will no longer be reachable after it becomes the Amagasaki-Nishinomiya Line
- Nishinomiya Ebisu
- Shukugawa
- Morig具
- Each stop within Ashiya City
If you want to go to these stops by bus, you can use the “Nishinomiya-Kobe Line,” which departs from and arrives at “Hanshin Nishinomiya”.
→See the Nishinomiya-Kobe Line route map here
Suspended stops
There are two stops that cannot be reached even on the “Nishinomiya-Kobe Line.”
- Hanshin Ashiya
- Narihira Bridge
It looks like these stops will be suspended.
Reduced service
On both weekday and weekend/holiday schedules, service will apparently be reduced by about one bus per hour.
By the way, here is the timetable toward Amagasaki from Nishinomiya City Hall.
From the Hanshin Bus timetable PDF
There used to be roughly three buses per hour, but it seems that will generally drop to about two.
You can search the timetable here.
Finally
Today, 12/17, Hankyu Railway and Hanshin Railway are also revising their timetables. It generally felt like they were reducing the number of services, but perhaps this is due to fewer riders because of COVID and other factors, bringing service levels in line with the number of people who need them. For those who use these routes, it will become less convenient, so it’s a bit disappointing news.
