You can find the roundup article for the 3,000-yen izakaya series (Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi edition) here↓
Right in front of Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, there’s an izakaya called “赤おに家.”
Its former name was “あか鬼家,” but I wonder what the point of changing the name was…
Well, leaving the name aside, for this izakaya feature we visited “赤おに家 Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi.”

Challenge begins!

Until the end of this month, draft beer, wine, and highballs are apparently 290 yen per glass.
So this time, I’m planning to go with a strategy of just drinking beer.
The draft beer is “The Premium Malt’s.”

The “tsukidashi” appetizer is 250 yen, including the seating charge.
Today’s “tsukidashi” is “handmade Camembert cheese tofu.”

It felt like I could keep drinking glass after glass with just the “Camembert cheese tofu,” but that wouldn’t really do, so I ordered some food first.
The first dish was “salt-grilled kanpachi collar” (480 yen).
It’s a pretty authentic dish.
It was grilled just right and tasted very good.

Second beer.

For the second dish, I ordered “chicken nanban” (460 yen).
There seem to be a lot of places pushing chicken nanban lately.
I wonder if it’s trending…
Each restaurant has its own style, and here the chicken nanban is made with tatsuta-age-style chicken topped with sweet vinegar sauce and tartar sauce.
It’s the kind of flavor that makes the beer go down fast.

And so, my third beer.
I still had a little room left, so I was torn between having more beer or ordering another dish, but there was one item I just couldn’t stop thinking about, so I decided to order it as my final dish.

It’s “natto and green onion fried rice” (630 yen).
As someone who likes natto, this is a very welcome dish.
The flavor of the natto really comes through, but it doesn’t smell that strong, so I think even people who aren’t fond of the smell of natto could eat it.
It’s an unusual dish, but I enjoyed it very much.
Now, I think it’s about time to wrap things up. How much will the bill be?
The bill was!
2,959 yen!!
That’s pretty good.
The drinks are cheap, the food selection is varied, and I think this place offers great value.
What I ordered this time was: The Premium Malt’s x 3, tsukidashi, salt-grilled kanpachi collar, chicken nanban, and natto and green onion fried rice.
That was it~~!!
Japanese and Western Dining “赤おに家 Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi” Menu

Here is the menu.
It really has a wide variety of items.
As I wrote earlier, until November 30, draft beer, wine, and highballs are 290 yen per glass.
Inside Japanese and Western Dining “赤おに家 Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi”
The inside feels like a typical izakaya.
There are counter seats and table seats.

These are the counter seats.

The table seats look like this.
This area feels like a semi-private room, but they also have fully private rooms.
There is also a tatami room that can be used by larger groups.

The restaurant is located on the first basement floor of this building.

This large sign is the landmark.

Head down the stairs…

And here is the entrance.
