If you go this way, you’ll head toward the Tsutogawa River. A little farther along, there’s a 7-Eleven.
In the opposite direction, you’ll find お茶の間 ぷちだがしやさん, and after crossing Kofubashi Bridge, アチャパンナ, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and more.
About “日本料理 花ゆう”
“日本料理 花ゆう” was previously featured in a gourmet article on Nishitsu as well.
Their seasonal “Shin-shoga Nabe set with zosui,” which was also featured in the Sankei Shimbun, had just the right kick from fresh ginger, pairing beautifully with pork belly, lettuce, and sesame sauce. It was so good you couldn’t stop eating. The appetizer, zosui, and pickles all had a warm, comforting flavor.
Nishinomiya gourmet blogger Yajikita apparently tried the 花ゆう bento.
The owner trained in cooking for 10 years at the high-end Koyoen restaurant “はり半” (closed in 2005), then studied management and ways of living as a person in Wakayama and Shizuoka. Drawing on those experiences, he has run “日本料理 花ゆう” here in Nishinomiya-kitaguchi for 40 years.
During the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake 30 years ago, the restaurant was unable to operate for about three weeks. Even so, unable to simply do nothing, the owner used paper plates, paper cups, and remaining dishes to make oyakodon and other meals for customers.
“花ゆう” was near the place where my husband and I lived when we first got married. We lived there for about five years. My husband and I went there for a meal about once a year♪ It’s a restaurant full of nostalgic memories for me♪ I’m sad to see it go!

“花ゆう” was a place where you could enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices, with delicate seasoning and beautiful presentation. It’s truly sad to see this beloved restaurant, visited not only by Nishinomiya residents but also by many people from nearby areas, close its doors. It will be open until Friday, January 31, so why not stop by for one last meal?
