It looks like remains from the Kamakura period have been found at Nishinomiya Central Sports Park, which is set for a major renovation along National Route 171.

So far, they seem to have found many archaeological features mainly from the medieval period (Kamakura to Muromachi periods), as well as traces of a water channel from ancient times (Nara period)🏺
On Saturday, 2/21, there will also be an on-site briefing session where you can hear real stories about the excavation from a curator. No registration required, and you can drop in anytime during the session hours.

There is no parking, so please come by public transportation, bicycle, or on foot🚶♂️
It’s about a 15-minute walk from JR Nishinomiya Station or Hankyu Nishinomiya-kitaguchi Station. It’s also right by the “Shimin Undojo-mae” stop on the Hanshin/Hankyu Bus.

This is a chance to see an excavation site up close, something you normally don’t get to do. Of course, it’s great for anyone who likes archaeology or history, but since you can visit freely during the session hours, it might also be fun to just stop by whenever you have time.
