There are three yakiniku restaurants called “牛倭心伝” in Nishinomiya, and each one has a large sign that says “cost-price yakiniku.” It’s a slightly unusual system where, after paying an entry fee, you can order all dishes at cost price.
I often go there because you can enjoy plenty of yakiniku at a great value, but they actually have a solid lunch menu too.
They have locations in Imazu, Kurakuen-guchi, and Naruo, and this time I went to the Naruo location for lunch.

I decided to order the “Kuroge Wagyu Steak Lunch (200g)” (1,680 yen), which was marked as “recommended” on the menu.

First, this set is brought to the table.
It comes with rice, soup, salad, namul, and two kinds of yakiniku sauce.
The sauces are a refreshing, slightly tangy sauce and a sweeter sauce.

And here is the main dish, the “Kuroge Wagyu Steak.”

Since I had the chance, I took a close-up shot.
The marbling is beautiful…
It’s already cut into bite-sized pieces, so you can grill it as is.

Like this.
Since the slices are cut fairly thick, I think it’s best to sear the outside until fragrant while keeping the center on the rare side.
It’s very juicy, and when you bite into it, the savory flavor and sweetness of the meat spread throughout your mouth along with the juices.
Rather than putting everything on the grill at once, you’ll want to cook each piece one by one and savor it slowly.

After the meal, I had this “Vanilla Chocolate Ice Cream” (180 yen).
Ice cream after yakiniku really hits the spot…
It was a very luxurious and completely satisfying lunch.
