Things That Changed on Nishitsu This Week
There are four items this week.
Our Traffic Has Been Dropping Sharply
As we wrote in the article Nishinomiya Tsushin’s Top 20 Popular Articles & Top 10 Gourmet Articles for August 2020, our traffic has been dropping sharply, mainly because we’re showing up less often in Google’s recommended section.
Google has a standard that basically says, “Pages need to load fast,” and it seems like we may be getting caught there. We’ve been trying all sorts of things, like reducing the file size of images across the site. (Specifically, it’s an LCP issue: mobile pages over 2.5 seconds have increased quite a bit since late July. Someone knowledgeable, please help!!)
So the site may change in various ways, like “Wait, did the image quality get worse?” If a friend asks you, “Hasn’t Nishitsu’s site been acting kind of weird lately?” you can sound like an expert by saying, “Apparently they’re working on improving the page load speed.”
We Tried Collecting Information More Systematically
Nishitsu basically gathers information in four ways.
① Noticing changes around town while commuting or going about daily life
② Receiving tips through the form or messages on social media
③ Checking the surrounding area while out doing gourmet coverage
④ Searching little by little online and on social media
But there was actually a big gap in this.
We simply don’t get much information from areas we don’t visit.
So we’re assigning people to cover areas along the Hanshin Line, which Nishitsu is especially weak on, and having them go check those areas once a week even if there’s nothing specific going on.
Nikotomama Went to Cover the Yamaguchicho Area
Even though it’s part of the same Nishinomiya, Yamaguchicho is located in the far northern area.
We think there are fewer readers there compared with the southern part of the city, and unless Nishitsu members intentionally go there, we won’t notice changes, so we’ve been visiting regularly.
This week, Nikotomama went to Yamaguchicho, and amazingly, found enough material for nine articles!
There are lots of interesting things in the northern area that you won’t find in the south, so we hope to share those with you next week.
By car, you’ll reach Yamaguchicho soon after passing through the Bantaki Tunnel, so why not use articles like the one below as a reference and go visit on the weekend?
Thank You for the Tips!!
This week, we received some really big information. We’re planning to write about it next week. Stay tuned!!
Once again, if there’s anything in Nishinomiya that catches your attention, please feel free to send it to us via LINE or the tip submission form! Don’t worry if someone else may have already sent the same info. Please keep the tips coming!
