“Lucky Man” Race Canceled for First Time in 54 Years

It seems the “Fukuotoko” event has been canceled for the first time in 54 years.

This year, they had been taking thorough precautions against COVID-19, including holding a “advance lottery”, but it appears they decided to cancel the event in light of the temporary suspension of the “Go To Travel” campaign.

In Closing

I’ve personally lined up for the lottery six years in a row, so I do feel sad about it, but I think this was a wise decision by the shrine. Let’s take on next year’s “Fukuotoko” with twice as much determination! ^^
