It looks like a mixed-use shopping center will be built on the roadside portion of the former “Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance” site in Okuhata, which is currently vacant land.

We previously wrote that a senior welfare facility would be built at this location, but apparently that will only occupy the western side of this large plot of land.

What will be built?
Taking another look at the earlier plan,

it will be along the road on the eastern side.
From the plan, we can confirm the following:
- Parking lot for 56 cars
- Bicycle parking for 20 bikes
- Drug (329 tsubo)
- Retail space (250 tsubo)
- Clinic (122 tsubo)
- Restaurant building? (65 tsubo)
Does “drug” mean a drugstore?
“Retail space” may mean that some kind of shop will move in.
The area labeled as a restaurant building is probably a space for dining establishments.
The linked page said it would be a two-story building, but the plan labels the clinic as a “single-story proposal,” so it seems the plans are not yet fully finalized.
Finally
According to the information provided, this site is about 2,500 tsubo, so it is quite large. If a mixed-use shopping center is built around that area, it will probably be very helpful for quite a few people. There are still many things we don’t know, including when it will be built, but we’ll let you know if we receive any new information!
