Lately, Lawson stores have been getting renovated one after another. What exactly is going on with Lawson?
Even Asnas stores inside Hankyu and Hanshin train stations
were changed into Lawson stores in 2021.
And since around October 2022,
they’ve also started selling MUJI products.
And recently,
Lawson renovations have been happening one after another around Nishinomiya.
Why is that? We were a little curious, so…
we went to the Imazu Shamaecho store, which reopened after renovation on February 17!
Shachomi, Nishitsu’s new character who’s been showing up more and more lately, went to check it out.

The reason Lawson renovations have been happening one after another lately is this:
They added Machikado Chubo
What is Machikado Chubo?
Apparently, it’s an in-store kitchen where trained staff make bento using rice cooked right there in the store.
The bento look like this. There are quite a few varieties.
The key point is the discount stickers you often see at supermarkets.
Half price! They were being sold at incredible prices. No surprise, these were selling right away. They said they actively put these stickers on items to avoid food waste.
They have a huge selection of burgers. There are even sandwiches from Maisen.
They also sell side dishes on their own. If you have the Lawson app, you can get things like 50 yen off, so it’s probably worth installing.

Tongs??
They’ve changed to a style where you pick up fried foods and items like these yourself.
That means you no longer have to tell the staff, “One Karaage-kun Red, please.”
Just disinfect your hands, then use the tongs to put it into this bag.
Items like these are also something you pick up yourself and take to the register.
At the Shamaecho store, they said it’s still okay to order at the register like before, too. How kind.
The Lawson Shamaecho store has discounted items through today, 2/19!
The manager was very friendly, and we had a really fun time talking with them! Apparently, they also run the Lawson at Mukodan Mall. Tell them you saw it on Nishitsu.

If you live nearby or happen to pass by, there’s also a parking lot, so why not stop in? If you find a super-cheap sticker from Machikado Chubo, you’re lucky.
It looks like Ankazu-san was able to get the Lawson Morisugi Premium Roll Cake. Apparently, it really is packed with way too much whipped cream.
