It looks like there will be a test broadcast for J-Alert over the disaster prevention speakers tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12, at 11:00 a.m.
(This information was provided by Kagayaki 509-go @ Nishitsu SP)
The emergency alert radio will also suddenly start playing sound at the same time. Just be mentally prepared for it.
What Will Be Broadcast for This J-Alert Test
Right at 11:00, a message along the lines of “This is a J-Alert test” will be broadcast.
The same message will also be sent out through the 147 disaster prevention speakers around the city (disaster prevention administrative radio system), Sakura FM (emergency alert radio), and the Nishinomiya Disaster Prevention Network (email).
If you miss the broadcast, apparently you can also check it by calling 050-5578-2628 (call charges apply).
We’ve previously written articles about the disaster prevention speakers and emergency alert radio.
Finally
This time, mobile phones won’t make any sound, so it probably won’t be too startling. Still, the voice used in the disaster prevention speaker broadcast has a slightly scary feel to it, so try not to be surprised in that sense. The next test is scheduled for Friday, February 6, next year.
