The building and fire watchtower of the Nishinomiya City Volunteer Fire Corps Komatsu Branch in Komatsu-cho will reportedly be removed on December 1.

It’s a charming fire watchtower, but when we asked the fire department, they told us the tower will be dismantled after it is removed.
The Komatsu Branch building seems to have already relocated under the elevated tracks of Hanshin Electric Railway (2-6-51 Komatsu Nishimachi, Nishinomiya City).
Information around “Komatsu Branch”
If you go this way, you’ll find Stadium Morispo Nishinomiya, and it leads out to the Ozone Line. “Komatsu no Potekaraya”, which we introduced when it opened, is also in this direction.
This way heads toward the Mukogawa River. Along the old national highway one street to the south, you’ll find Curry Kitchen “Karion” and Japanese sweets shop “Saikaen”.

In Closing
This fire watchtower apparently used to sound its siren when there was a fire nearby, but we were told it hasn’t sounded for many years.
With its nostalgic Showa-era look, it may well have been loved by local residents as something of a neighborhood landmark.
Since the relocation site is under the elevated tracks of the Hanshin Railway, the move is probably being made with efficient land use and mobility in mind.
