Before I knew it, I had somehow become the “takoyaki correspondent,” so here’s a roundup of the takoyaki shops I, Yumacchi @ Nishitsu, have visited and eaten at.(The first two shops were covered by Daa @ Nishitsu.)
ごっつええ本舗
Teritama Takoyaki (12 pieces)￥850
It comes topped with “teriyaki sauce” and “tartar sauce,” so to put it simply, it’s like a takoyaki version of chicken nanban!
つねちゃん
Takoyaki, 8 pieces (green onion ponzu)￥350
With green onion and mayonnaise plus a gentle hint of ponzu, it has a light, easy-to-eat flavor.
羽衣こまち
Takoyaki (6 pieces)￥370
They’re so fluffy and melty that it’s hard to pick them up with chopsticks‼︎
風風
Takoyaki, 8 pieces (sauce and mayonnaise)￥380
Soft, creamy, and wonderfully chewy. Personally, when I think of “風風,” I picture karaage fried chicken.
たこみつ
Takoyaki, 18 pieces (ponzu soy sauce)￥420
They’re bite-sized, so you can enjoy them like a snack.
トレビ庵
Takoyaki (8 large pieces)￥500
The batter is nice and chewy, and that sharp kick of green onion is great!
喜田商店

The only filling is octopus, but these are so good you could call them “THE takoyaki.”
笑ん
Takoyaki, 10 pieces (sauce and mayonnaise)￥650
This shop just opened in December and serves takoyaki with a fresh texture: crisp on the outside. The price may give you pause, but definitely try it at least once.
