Nishinomiya City ranked 2nd in Hyogo Prefecture, with Ashiya City in 1st

Diamond Online, which publishes attractiveness rankings of municipalities across Japan from various perspectives, ranked Nishinomiya City 2nd among the 41 municipalities in Hyogo Prefecture.

The reason Nishinomiya came in 2nd is that it scored highly among Japan’s 1,741 municipalities, including 68th nationwide for living infrastructure and 23rd for education.

“Living infrastructure” is scored based on factors such as household income, labor costs including salaries, and the number of convenience stores and similar facilities.

Education is scored based on factors such as education expenses and years of schooling.

Nishinomiya ranked 32nd among 1,741 municipalities nationwide

Apparently, there are 1,741 municipalities across Japan.

Among them, Nishinomiya ranked 32nd.

If that doesn’t sound all that impressive, consider this: among the municipalities ranked up to 32nd, as many as 27 are in Tokyo.

Outside Tokyo, only 2 municipalities are in Kanagawa, 2 in Hyogo, and 1 in Chiba.

So Nishinomiya ranking 32nd nationwide is pretty impressive. After all, it places in the top less than 2% of all municipalities.

In Closing

Our neighbor Ashiya City is amazing too, ranking 17th nationwide, but Nishinomiya City’s 32nd-place ranking may come as a bit of a surprise.

Nishinomiya also ranked 1st in the “Kansai Cities People Want to Live In Ranking,” which was based on people’s opinions. This ranking, however, scores municipalities using objective numerical data.

Beyond daily life and education, Nishinomiya also has plenty of nature, Nishinomiya Gardens, and is incredibly convenient. It has Koshien too. There are too many appealing points to list them all, but Nishinomiya’s charm is the real deal!
