The closed “Iwano Sports,” located in Sun Seven under the Hankyu elevated tracks in front of Nishida Park, has created a map of the Yasui area from 1969
(This information was provided by Shukugawa Marron. Thank you!)
Here it is↓

This was one of the exhibits at the small cultural festival held at Iwano Sports on April 25.
On the map, it’s here↓
The address is 6-15 Nishida-cho, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The Yasui area and Iwano Sports around 1969
The small cultural festival held at Iwano Sports featured things like this:

- 1969, the year Iwano Sports opened
- There were three bookstores
- Besides Futaba Onsen, there was also Showa-yu
- A barbershop, watch shop, and udon restaurant stood side by side
For details, see here
They want to create a map of the Yasui area from around 1969

It was recreated from the memories of two sisters who were 3 and 9 at the time, along with their 91-year-old mother
But this map is still far from complete.
So here’s a request
Would Nishi2 readers like to help complete this map together?
If you go to Iwano Sports, this map is on display.
They’d be happy if you came by and said, “There used to be ___ here!”
When you visit Iwano Sports, just say, “I saw this on Nishi2,” and it should be easy to start chatting with them.

The note about Takiya Pharmacy running out of toilet paper during the oil shock is kind of amazing.

You can see what it was like on their official Instagram. You can also watch footage from the day in the live stream archive. If you’d like to see what things were like back then, have a chat, or help draw in the map, please stop by Iwano Sports.
