On November 10, the Bar & Marche will be held again this year in Koshienguchi.
So for our regular izakaya feature, we decided to make our way over to Koshienguchi too.
This time, we visited 「桜ちゃぼ一」, located very close to Koshienguchi Station.
It’s easy to read it as “Chabo,” but the correct reading is “Chaboichi.”
Let’s head in.
目次
Challenge Start!

First up is the otoshi appetizer (270 yen).
It was simmered pork and edamame tofu.
This alone is good enough to count as a full dish.
The topping on the tofu is a consommé jelly.

We started with a “Sapporo Black Label mug” (480 yen).
I could probably finish a whole beer just with the otoshi from earlier, but I’ll try to pace myself a little.

For food, we first ordered this “ume kurage” (pickled plum and jellyfish) (380 yen).
It’s the kind of dish that makes beer go down fast.
Between the otoshi and this, I ended up finishing my beer.

Next, I tried this.
It’s “Hadou Seishu,” one go serving (700 yen).
Apparently it’s sake from Akita, and it was very easy to drink with a gentle flavor.
Compared with the other drinks, the price is on the lower side too.

Since we’re here, I wanted to try some chicken dishes too.
This is “sasami with salted kombu” (380 yen).
The chicken tenderloin is served rare, and it’s really delicious.
It goes very well with the sake from earlier.

And then there’s the “Super Popular! Chicken Nanban with Homemade Tartar Sauce” (580 yen).
Since the dish name itself says “super popular,” I guess it must really be popular…
Chicken nanban seems to be a popular item at just about any restaurant.
This version of chicken nanban uses fried chicken with sweet vinegar, rather than chicken cutlet with sweet vinegar.
It also went really well with the homemade tartar sauce and was very tasty.
Now, I think it’s about time for the bill.
Here we go!
The total was!!
3,070 yen!!!
Oops, I went a little over again…
It’s pretty hard to fine-tune the total…
But for around 3,000 yen, I was very satisfied with everything I got.
This time, we ordered the otoshi, Sapporo Black Label mug, ume kurage, Hadou Seishu one go serving, sasami with salted kombu, and the Super Popular! Chicken Nanban with Homemade Tartar Sauce.
That’s what we had.
