It looks like, starting April 1, family register notifications that used to be accepted 24 hours a day at five locations around the city will no longer be accepted there after hours.

Branch offices where after-hours services will no longer be available
Here are the five branch offices where after-hours services will no longer be available.
- Naruo Branch Office
- Kawaragi Branch Office
- Koto Branch Office
- Shiose Branch Office
- Yamaguchi Branch Office
You can still submit notifications between 9:00 and 17:30!

After-hours reception will be handled at Nishinomiya City Hall
“So what should I do after hours?”
No worries.
After-hours reception (17:31-8:59) is available at Nishinomiya City Hall.
There is an after-hours window (night duty room).
On the next business day (when the office is open), a staff member in charge of family registers will check it and accept the notification retroactively as of the submission date.

There are five types of family register notifications
There are five types of family register notifications.
- Birth notification
- Marriage notification
- Divorce notification
- Death notification
- Change of registered domicile notification
Be careful: some have deadlines
Birth notifications must be submitted within 14 days of the birth, and death notifications within 7 days of the death.
If either deadline is missed, you may be subject to a non-penal fine of up to 50,000 yen. Be careful!
Finally
Birth notifications are probably often submitted by husbands who are busy with work.
If it looks like you might be cutting it close, it’s probably safest to remember that you can go to Nishinomiya City Hall.
