Here’s our report after visiting the newly opened “みやっこキッズダム” in Nishinomiya-hama on its opening day, 4/1 (the 1st), and again today (the 2nd).

Scenes from April 1 (as seen from a distance)
Since it’s in Nishinomiya-hama, I think most people come by car.
The parking lot↓
This parking lot usually only gets crowded for things like soccer matches.
It can hold quite a lot of cars, but more than 90% of the spaces were full.
The fee is 100 yen for the first hour, then 100 yen every 30 minutes. If you play for about 3 hours, it comes to around 500 yen.
This is what it looks like entering the park from the parking lot. There’s a gentle slope.
It was bustling with lots of visitors! Everyone was lining up properly to go down the slide.
There’s a Tarzan rope, the kind of playground equipment that would probably rank first or second among kids’ favorites.
A Recommended Area for Ages 1 to 5
An area where little kids can run around freely.
The hill-like area with ropes around it is off-limits because the grass is being protected while it grows.
A 21st-century-style sandbox. It has tables and things, so it’s optimized for pretend play.
I wonder what that Western-style grave-looking thing above and to the right of the sandbox is.
A hand-washing area right near the sandbox!!
Creating a permanent mud-ball-making setup like this is almost too tempting.
This area is recommended for ages 3 to 5.
There were small slides and a small white hill-like piece of playground equipment.

You can also see a new kind of jungle-gym-like playground equipment. There’s plenty of space, so it looks easy to spread out a picnic sheet or set up a simple tent.
The building on the right is the restroom. It’s huge! With a facility this spacious, that’s reassuring.
This giant hill that makes you want to run up it was also off-limits because the grass is being protected.
It should be open for entry in August.

Scenes from April 2, Day Two (a closer look at the playground equipment)
On the 2nd, Sensei @ Nishitsu went to take a look!
Here’s the full view of the castle playground equipment. There are three places to slide down. The top of the castle looks like it’ll become a popular spot.
The slide has big wavy curves.
This one is for smaller children. Or so it seems, but it actually looks surprisingly steep.
There’s more playground equipment in the back too.
A climbing-style piece of playground equipment. Practice on this, then try bouldering at the Nishikita Climbing Wall.
A close-up of the Tarzan rope. I wonder if the tree-like thing on top is a symbol. There were several of them.
The tents people were using were about this size. Pretty compact ones.
