Nishitsu’s Shacho went to the summer festival “Natsu Matsuri” held at Tsuto Shrine on 7/7!

It was just before 5 p.m.
Looking at this, you’d think it didn’t seem that crowded.
Nishiguchi Park next to the shrine was being used as a bicycle parking area.

Look at all these bicycles! The whole neighborhood must have gathered here.
Actually, I first entered from the back side of the shrine↓

The entrance at the back was quite narrow,

and once inside, it was packed like this.

At Tsuto Shrine’s summer festival, they used a system where you buy festival tickets.
They were sold at two locations, east and west, and neither was very crowded.
Even so, I was happy to see that the prices were very reasonable!
Shaved ice was 100 yen, yakisoba was 200 yen… it’s like prices have been frozen since the Showa era!
Even the most expensive item was draft beer at 300 yen, so it was a summer festival that was easy on the wallet.

As you can see, the tickets were sold in 100-yen units.

The ring toss area was overflowing with children.

There was quite a line for smart ball. I think the wait was about 20 minutes.
The child at the end of the line holds the sign marking the end. This down-to-earth feeling is what makes it nice.

Smart ball is a game where you use about 10 balls to try to line them up.
I’m guessing you get something if you complete a row.

Yakitori was 200 yen for 3 skewers. That’s cheap too!

Yes, there was also a long line for the yakitori.
It’s yakitori, after all.

The yakitori is served freshly cooked and piping hot in a paper cup. Be careful not to burn yourself.

The atmosphere at the lucky draw area. It has a lot of character.

As expected, classic cotton candy was popular too, and people were lining up.
Before someone says, “Everything has a line!”, here’s this↓

For those planning to go next time, the roasted marshmallows were not crowded.
Some people were buying them to calm down children who were fussing and saying, “Is it ready yet~~~~?” while waiting in line.
Once the kids were given marshmallows, they became wonderfully quiet, so give it a try next time.

Personally, this cabbage-yaki is my top recommendation.
It’s 100 yen! It has egg in it! The value is way too good!

The shaved ice stand wasn’t crowded either.
Or rather, since it hasn’t been very hot this year, maybe it wasn’t selling as much.
Personally, I like Blue Hawaii for its special, out-of-the-ordinary feel.

If the crowded areas start to feel overwhelming, try escaping toward the shrine entrance on the torii gate side. It’s relatively open, so I recommend it.

Maybe these are bamboo leaves for warding off evil. You can take them home.
That was Tsuto Shrine’s summer festival!
This is the kind of down-to-earth summer festival atmosphere you’ll want to experience every year.
