Some of you may be wondering, “Why an article about Kankodo all of a sudden?” so let me explain a little.
This is the Koshien main store, but it had been temporarily closed for the past few months.
The Kankodo next to the FamilyMart on the north side of Koshienguchi has closed.
This one is in Amagasaki, but the Mukonoso store has also closed.
The Kamikoshien store along Route 2 is temporarily closed.
Because of all that, Nishitsu readers Tomo, Aokuro no Samurai, Moyamu, and an anonymous reader had voiced concerns, asking, “Could they have gone out of business?”
So, Shacho @ Nishitsu happened to be out covering something in the Koshien area, and when he passed by Kankodo, it was open, like, “Oh, Kankodo is open!” That’s how this article came about.
Reasons for Kankodo’s temporary closures and more
When we asked the shop about the recent temporary closures, they said it was “because our production system hasn’t been able to keep up.”
When the shop is open, they say it’s open from 10:00 to 14:00. I bought mine at 14:04, and as soon as I left, they closed the shop. That’s why the opening image looked like that.

They say they will basically operate only the Koshien main store and the Hirota store, and the other locations are closed. Sounds like they might be closing?
So, for now, the main store was open.
They said temporary closures may happen from time to time, so they’d like customers to call in advance to check. However, if no one answers the phone, that means they are temporarily closed.
Downtown’s Hitoshi Matsumoto has also said on TV that his mother sends him these whenever she gets the chance, so he might be worried around now if no Okaki Maki has arrived. When the shop is open, definitely go and get some.
