A sign saying “Renewal Coming This Fall” has been posted at Corowa Koshien.
(Photos and information provided by Ta-san and Fucchi-san. Thank you!)
Here it is↓

It looks like an illustration of a family happily heading to Corowa Koshien, probably with a Shiba Inu leading the way. Personally, I really love Shiba Inu dogs.
These signs are posted around Koshien Station and inside Corowa.
Here’s our previous roundup article about the renewal:
It’s been about five years since Corowa Koshien opened. Hopefully it’ll be a surprising, full-scale renewal. If we find out anything more, we’ll write another article.
Corowa Koshien used to have conveyor-belt checkout registers
By the way, Koyo High School was located here until 1978. (It is now at 3-138 Kadoishicho.)
After that, the site changed like this:
Printemps Koshien (from June 1993) → Daiei Koshien (from September 1995) → Aeon Koshien (from March 2016) → Corowa Koshien (from December 2017). (Source: Wikipedia)
The source mentioned something interesting from the Printemps era.
Apparently, the centralized checkout area in the grocery section on basement level 2 was pretty distinctive.
- Each lane had a conveyor belt
- Customers placed their items on the conveyor belt
- The cashier scanned the items
- The items slid down on a conveyor belt at the end of a lane split into two sides
- Customers bagged their items

<Just an illustration of a conveyor belt>
This centralized checkout system was apparently still used during the Daiei Koshien days, and was later replaced with standard checkout registers.
Come to think of it, Costco and IKEA also have conveyor belts at checkout. Maybe it was something like that.
*Thank you, Ta-san and Fucchi-san, for the information!!
