MUJI at Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens is holding a “Mottainai Market.”
(This information was provided by Iroha. Thank you!)
Here it is↓

The “Mottainai Market” is apparently an initiative based on the idea that it’s “mottainai” to waste limited resources. Items that normally would have been thrown away, such as products that couldn’t be sold due to scratches or stains, or items returned after being opened, are sold at bargain prices.
The “Mottainai Market” had previously been held at only six locations, including the Ginza store and the online store, but from Friday, May 19, it expanded to 20 large physical stores nationwide, and sales have also started at MUJI in “Gardens.”

A compact hanger stand. The M size at the very front looks like it would be great for storage in a child’s room. This one is marked down from 21,800 yen to 10,900 yen, which is half price!
So I wondered, do these Mottainai Market items have stains or scratches?! But it looks like MUJI at Gardens mainly sells unused items with damaged outer boxes or items that have been opened once.
A basket that looks handy for magazines, room shoes, and things like that. This one is also down from 15,800 yen to 9,480 yen. It looks like it would be nice next to a sofa or under a desk.
A distinctive sofa has been marked down from 49,000 yen to 38,900 yen. The products being handled seem to be mainly from IDEE, a brand of original furniture and interior goods.

This bed is half price, from 208,200 yen to 104,100 yen!! Japanese society is honestly pretty impressive if an opened item can end up being considered “imperfect.” Still, if that’s enough to make it half price, that’s pretty nice.
Lastly
Some items, mainly IDEE products, include display items that are no longer in production, so they are also selling the actual items on display. That means it ends once they’re gone, so if you want to buy something simple and a little nicer at a lower price, it might be worth stopping by!
