This shop is in neighboring Ashiya. We stopped by the boutique “Sherlock Holmes,” which opened on November 1 on the 2nd floor of La Porte Main Building in front of JR Ashiya Station!
“Sherlock Holmes” is apparently a boutique that has previously opened locations inside hotels such as Hotel Okura Kobe and Hotel New Otani Osaka. You can definitely feel the luxury at first glance!
Inside the shop, you’ll find carefully selected items such as one-of-a-kind bags and accessories made by artists, as well as clothing and shoes crafted with care by skilled artisans.
Everything is absolutely lovely, but this time, staff member Ms. Kawanishi told us about three items she especially recommends!

Kyoto Leather Yuzen Bag
The first recommendation is a bag by “Kyoto Leather Yuzen”! It’s made from leather dyed piece by piece by artisans using the techniques of Kyo-Yuzen, a traditional Japanese craft.

When you look at it up close, the three-dimensional effect is amazing! This is definitely a statement bag that can become the centerpiece of an outfit!
Nishijin-ori Dress & Bolero
The second recommendation is a “Nishijin-ori” dress and bolero! Both are clothing items made using the techniques of Nishijin-ori, Kyoto’s high-quality pre-dyed silk textile.

The fabric has stretch, but apparently it expands and contracts through the weaving technique rather than using elastic! Amazing!
↑ Not only is it reversible in red and black, but you can wear it in all kinds of ways: draped over your shoulders as a shawl, wrapped around your neck like a stole, or with your arms through the sleeves as a bolero. So convenient!
Original Foil-Finished Shoes by “Sherlock Holmes”
The third recommendation is “Haku o Haku,” an original foil-finished shoe by “Sherlock Holmes”!
It’s apparently a Sherlock Holmes exclusive product created through a collaboration between custom original leather made from top-quality cowhide with various metal foils scattered across it using a special finishing process and skilled shoemakers from Kobe. These are rare shoes you can only get here!

The shine of the foil created by this special finish just can’t be fully captured in photos…! You might find yourself completely captivated when you see them in person!
