There are two mysterious cranes sticking up on top of Mount Kabuto.
We received a request that caught our attention.
This time, the request came from “Satoyan.”
So, if possible, there’s something I’d like you to look into. Recently, on Mount Kabuto as seen from the east(Mount Kabuto as seen from the Kwansei Gakuin main gate), there are two cranes sticking right into it.
One is from the foot of the mountain, and the other is in the middle of Mount Kabuto. What are they doing there? I tried looking it up but couldn’t figure it out, so I thought I’d have no choice but to ask Nishitsu, Nishinomiya’s very own Detective Night Scoop, to investigate.
Speaking of mountains, we’ve solved mysteries before, like that almost state-secret-level thing in “There’s an eerie facility built above the Bantaki Tunnel,” and “We checked out the mysterious glowing suspicious something on Kwansei Gakuin’s central lawn.”

The View from Kwansei Gakuin
Since the request said “Mount Kabuto as seen from the Kwansei Gakuin main gate,” we went to Kwansei Gakuin.

The road in front of Kwansei Gakuin. Pretty crowded.

It was right around the time Kwansei students were heading home, so there were lots of students around.

Behind it is Mount Kabuto. Take a close look.
Zoomed in ↓

Hmmmm. Is this really Mount Kabuto? It also looks like it could be inside Kwansei Gakuin.

Looking closely, it seems to be behind the trees, so maybe it isn’t on school grounds after all. By the way, the clock building is Kwansei Gakuin’s library.

Since it’s right behind Kwansei Gakuin, we figured it might be around the area marked with the pink circle.
Searching for the Spot Where They’re Sticking Up
It looks like it’s behind Kwansei Gakuin, and it seems like we can get there, so we’re going to check it out.

This is around the back of the library. Apparently it’s a bus terminal. No cranes here.
Still,

this thing that looks like a water tower. I’m curious. But it has nothing to do with today’s topic, so we reluctantly move on.

The stone in the back is a road marker (michishirube. I’d been reading it as dohyō this whole time💦). You see a lot of these around Uegahara and Kotoen.

It’s a stone pillar that people long ago used as a landmark when heading from Nishinomiya to Mount Kabuto. Nishinomiya has quite a few historical things like this.

Going farther along, we reach a fork in the road. The left side is a dead end in a residential area, so we go straight.

Still, this signboard has really aged, but the important “20” is easy to see.

If you go right, it’s the road to the Landslide Museum. We keep going straight.

As you can see, it’s a slope. Once we climb to the top…

There they are.

↑The cranes we could see from Kwansei Gakuin

Definitely two of them. This has to be it.
But what kind of facility is this, exactly…
Discovering a Mysterious Facility
The Nishitsu reporting team immediately sensed something suspicious, so we investigated the site.

High Voltage Danger

A suspicious-looking stone surrounded by fencing

A very serious-looking atmosphere

It looks like the area is monitored by security cameras.

Management Building Yard?!
This is starting to smell like a national secret.
The Mountain of the Gods, Giant Stones, and What Mount Kabuto Points To
Thinking about it carefully, this place is pretty much Mount Kabuto.
Mount Kabuto is said by one theory to have originally been called “the mountain of the gods(Kōnoyama or Kannoyama)”.
