It looks like monkeys have once again been spotted around Nishinomiya.
A little while ago
First, let’s sort out the monkeys that were initially confirmed
- The Fushihara-cho monkey（Last confirmed: Kuise, Amagasaki 8/9）
- The Maya monkey（Last confirmed: Koyoen Hinode-cho 8/11）
These two had been confirmed, and then there had been no sightings for a while. But
Probably the Fushihara-cho monkey has reappeared↓

At around 6:50 a.m. on Thursday, August 15, there was a sighting report of one monkey near Motohama-cho 5-chome, Amagasaki City.
Motohama-cho is just across Rinko Line, so it’s basically right next to Nishinomiya.
The photo is near Motohama-cho 4-chome. Just beyond the truck is 5-chome.
In the previous article, the monkey that was suddenly spotted in Fushihara-cho, Nishinomiya on August 6 was ultimately found around August 9 in Kuise, Amagasaki. We thought it might have headed toward Osaka, but on 8/15 it had come back quite close to Nishinomiya. It was also spotted north of Daimotsu Station on 8/14
One hour later, this Fushihara-cho monkey came back to Nishinomiya
【Fushihara-cho monkey】Around Higashi-Naruo-cho 2-chome at about 7:50 a.m. on 8/15

It seems to have been spotted on a road near Higashi-Naruo Koutai Shrine.
It’s around a shrine we visited for New Year’s prayers this year, in what feels like a quiet residential neighborhood, so anyone who ran into it must have been pretty surprised.
But then, on the same day, a monkey appeared again in a completely different part of Nishinomiya

It appeared near Kochi Shrine in Yamaguchi-cho.
Judging by the location, this monkey is probably not the Fushihara-cho monkey or the Maya monkey, but a third monkey.

One day after appearing in Higashi-Naruo-cho, the Fushihara-cho monkey(probably) appeared again 1.5 km away in Naruo-cho.

The photo shows Hongo Nakasuji. What you can see far in the distance is Route 43.

Near the site is the public bath “Shinyu.” When we looked it up, it said it has been around since the Meiji era and is the oldest in Nishinomiya.
It’s an area with lots of ordinary homes and no connection to the mountains, so running into a monkey there must have been quite a shock.
【Monkey】Around Kawazoe-cho at about 7:35 a.m. on August 16
A photo from a previous report near Kawazoe-cho. It seems to have been spotted around the north side of the park in the distance.
This location is more than 5 km away from Naruo-cho 4-chome, where the Fushihara-cho monkey was spotted, and only about two hours later. Considering the time and distance, it may not be the Fushihara-cho monkey, but possibly the Maya monkey, which was last confirmed in Koyoen Hinode-cho on August 11. Since we don’t know, let’s call it the fourth monkey
【Fourth monkey】Around Kawanishi-cho at about 8:05 a.m. on August 16
On the south side of Route 43, around the western bank of the Shukugawa River. This is close to Kawazoe-cho, so it’s probably safe to say this was the fourth monkey.

According to Nishi2 reader Zorobin, who witnessed it, the monkey ran up the stone steps from the embankment and headed north.
