Today, Monday, August 19, I went to see the “Working Bike Parade” held in front of JR Nishinomiya Station〜.
A McDonald’s bike?!
Yakult too?!
Somehow, it looks like it has a real presence…
So many police motorcycles are here!
They’re gathered in the middle of the rotary on the south side of JR Nishinomiya Station〜.
Today’s event was held because August 19 is “Bike Day” in Japan, and Nishinomiya Police Station organized “Working Bikes Gather Together” as a traffic safety event to help prevent motorcycle accidents〜.
So that explains the huge turnout〜〜! Little Miyakko kids got to sit on police motorcycles with help from the officers〜
Since so many police motorcycles gathered all at once, there wasn’t a huge long line, so it may have been easier for kids to try sitting on them. Apparently, the ride-on experience was decided on the spot because there were more visitors than expected
When you think of working bikes, the post office bikes come to mind too. The kids looked super excited, and the postal worker was smiling too
What was surprising was how popular the McDonald’s bike was〜
Come to think of it, there really aren’t events where you can sit on a McDonald’s bike〜. By the way, this bike is from the JR Nishinomiya Station-front store〜
You almost never get the chance to sit on a Self-Defense Forces motorcycle either〜. Pretty rare. It looks cool in a different way from a police motorcycle〜
This black Kawasaki bike belongs to Hanshin Riding School in Narai, Yamaguchi-cho.
This rugged-looking one is a Harley from Harley-Davidson® Plaza Itami.
The bike with by far the most presence was this one.
A bike with a fire extinguisher inside. What could it be〜?
Originally, this bike was used as a sidecar by the Imperial Guard.
In other words, it used to ride alongside His Majesty the Emperor’s motorcade! Amazing! Apparently, the Hyogo Prefectural Police traffic patrol unit now owns it as a kind of hand-me-down〜
For the kids who got to sit on such an incredible bike, it must have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience〜
At the end, when the commander gave the signal, everyone got on their bikes at once and turned on their indicators
while the Miyakko kids watched over the scene〜
When all the police motorcycle sirens went off at once, it was pretty exciting!
And then, they set off
The parade. It wasn’t actually this fast. That would be a traffic violation lol
Nishinomiya with a lineup of working bikes you don’t often get to see.
