Haruhi Sacred Place Area

Nishinomiya City is known as a sacred place for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. At Nishikita Park, northwest of Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, there is a clock tower known as the “Haruhi Clock,” which also appears in the series. It was once removed during park renovation work, but thanks to the passionate wishes of fans, it was reinstalled in the same location and remains beloved as a symbolic spot of the sacred place. Other locations around the city also served as models for places in the work, drawing many fans on pilgrimages.

Haruhi Slope and the Mansion District

Climb the long slope, commonly known as Haruhi Slope, and you can take in not only the Nishinomiya cityscape but also views stretching all the way to the Osaka Plain. This nature-rich area became an upscale mansion district as writers, artists, and business leaders built homes here, seeking a pleasant living environment. Its stylish streetscape, where modern and classical, Japanese and Western styles blend together, forms the foundation of today’s image of “Nishinomiya, a city people want to live in.”

Shukugawa’s Cherry Blossom Rows

Shukugawa is also famous as a cherry blossom spot. Along roughly 2.8 km of pine-lined paths, about 1,660 cherry trees come into bloom. In spring, the cherry branches stretch out as if covering the river’s surface, creating a tunnel of blossoms.

At night, the area is also illuminated, drawing many cherry blossom viewers.
