The “Uegahara Water Purification Plant” under construction near the Kwansei Gakuin campus is really starting to take shape.
(This info was provided by Yummy Yummy.)
When we saw it in June 2024, it was basically an empty lot↓ It looked like Gian might start singing on top of a concrete pipe~~~🎵

And here it is now↓

There are so many buildings now!

Work on the surrounding roads is also moving along.

Maybe this is the office for the construction workers? It’s pretty huge. Looks like lots of people are working here.

At dusk. The clouds are so beautiful. What kind of clouds are these?

Kabutoyama Forest Park is also nearby.
What is the Uegahara Water Purification Plant?
It’s located in Nishinomiya, but it’s actually “Kobe City’s water purification plant.” Why did they build it in Nishinomiya?
Quoted from the Kobe City Waterworks Bureau
Seeing it in the photo, it’s pretty big!
Here’s the location↓
The address is 1-74 Nigawa Yurinocho, Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
It was completed in 1917 and supplies water to central Kobe, but redevelopment work began in 2022 due to aging facilities. Completion is reportedly scheduled for July 2026.
Planned completion rendering↓
There was also a construction sign posted.

Normally, it supplies water to Kobe City, but in the event of a disaster, it also serves as a backup for nearby areas including Nishinomiya City, which is reassuring in an emergency.
Nishitsu Detective investigated this before↓
Finally
A lot of people may not have known there was a facility like this in Uegahara. It’s surprising that water from the Sengari Reservoir makes its way all the way to Nishinomiya. Kabutoyama Forest Park is right nearby too, so if you pass through the area while out hiking, you might discover something new.
Yummy Yummy, thank you for the tip!!
