On Sunday, January 12, I went to the “Nishinomiya City Fire Department New Year Ceremony” held at the Hanshin South Regional Disaster Prevention Base next to Koshienhama.
There were lots of children there, and the boys in particular were thrilled to see so many fire trucks, as well as ambulances they could peek inside and even climb into !(^^)!

Kids’ Firefighter Parade
The children climbed into the fire trucks and got to wear hats just like real firefighters as they got ready! The moms had their cameras ready too!
A whole lineup of fire trucks set off with their sirens blaring! The kids were waving and having the best time~
Even after the parade ended, everyone still seemed full of excitement(^^)
Simultaneous Water Discharge by Fire Trucks

And then, the simultaneous water discharge! It was a little too bad the sky was cloudy..
The force of the water was incredible! But the children were watching from very close by. Apparently, when the wind is strong, the firefighters get completely soaked^^;
Rescue Team Training Demonstration
There were two powerful-looking ladder trucks and a special work vehicle.. and lots of people watching too.
Here they are descending from a ladder extended high into the air.
Since this was the New Year ceremony, they also showed a special way of descending. The result of all their daily training!!
Even the adults let out cheers of “Wow!”
The Children
They took photos inside an ambulance and lined up to try lifesaving activities.. even while waiting in line, they were so excited!(^^)!
They were really curious and gave the hands-on activities a try!
Final Thoughts
It was a little disappointing because the fire trucks would have looked even better if the weather had been nicer, but the boys really were overjoyed!
It was such a big turnout that even the free parking lot was full!(^^)!
