This time on “Hashirepo,” we headed toward JR Koshienguchi Station after hearing that “there’s a lovely little zakka shop that feels like a hidden retreat.”
We visited the zakka and tableware shop “nico”.
On the second floor of an apartment building, once you step inside, you’ll find a world filled with adorable goods and warm, inviting tableware.
Inside “nico”
Here’s what the shop looks like inside. This shop, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this April, carries accessories, tableware, decorative items, and clocks.
Apparently, the items here are carefully selected from around Japan by the owner personally.
The owner finds pieces they truly love, contacts the artists directly, and has each item carefully made one by one!
These are works by Greenford, an artist living in Nishinomiya.
Delicate, beautiful handmade accessories crafted by knitting thread.
These are also by Greenford.
They create lovely accessories using glass beads and antique parts.
A carefully chosen selection of accessories from all over Japan is on display.
They also have Yamagata papier-mache figures. So cute!!!!
You’ll want to place one casually on a table♪
There’s also a kiwi figurine. It’s about the size of a pinky finger! Too adorable!
Between us, while taking photos, I did have a brief moment of doubt wondering, “Could it be an Okinawa rail instead?”
It’s the kind of piece you’d want to place subtly on top of a kiwi fruit.
A wire art ornament. This is the work of an artist from Osaka.
A stylish piece with even the tiniest details, like the seat area, expressed with precision.
With these handmade accessories and ornaments charmingly arranged throughout the shop, it really does feel like a hidden retreat♪

Here’s the exterior. The first floor is the parking area for “Chikara Mochi”. “nico” is on the second floor.
Go up the stairs from the apartment entrance next to the “Chikara Mochi” parking area, and you’ll find it immediately on your left.

Open this door, and a wonderful world of zakka awaits.
