“HISAGOYA,” which opened about three years ago on the northwest side of Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, is an izakaya where you can enjoy a wide selection of Japanese sake.
Not only do they have an extensive lineup, but they’re also particular about regularly changing the sake they stock so that customers can enjoy something new no matter how many times they visit.
HISAGOYA has also started offering takeout, and apparently they even sell Japanese sake by volume.
This time, we got food and sake to go from HISAGOYA and tried having an “izakaya at home.”
HISAGOYA Food
First up is their “Signature Chicken Nanban” (650 yen).
For the same price, they also have a “Chicken Nanban Bento,” but this version comes without rice and instead has 1.5 times the amount of meat.
Since we were having drinks this time, we went with the version without rice.
The container has two tiers, with the meat and tartar sauce in the lower section.
The surface is nicely fried and packed with flavor, while the meat is juicy and really delicious.
Both the sweet vinegar sauce and tartar sauce are excellent, and it seems like it would go perfectly with either rice or sake.
This is the takeout Japanese sake.
This time, we asked the shop to choose a sake that would pair well with the Chicken Nanban, and went with “Zaku Junmai Daiginjo from Mie Prefecture” (100ml, 600 yen).
It was rich, aromatic, fruity, very easy to drink, and delicious.
It paired wonderfully with the Chicken Nanban.

For takeout sake, the system is that you purchase a special bottle for 100 yen the first time, then bring that bottle with you from the second time onward to have it filled.
If you say “I saw it on Nishitsu,” you can apparently receive this original tokkuri sake flask and ochoko cup set right now (available while supplies last).
