There are many “Fujiya Group” restaurants around Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi, and “常夜燈（じょうやとう）” (Joyato), which I visited this time, is one of them.
This restaurant started offering “Happy Hour” last week.
“Happy Hour” is a system where alcoholic drinks are offered at a discount during relatively quieter times, such as lunchtime or early evening. At this restaurant, some alcoholic drinks are an incredible half price from 16:00 to 18:00.
If you aim for Happy Hour, you can drink even more for 3,000 yen!
So I went to the restaurant during Happy Hour.

Challenge Start!
First things first: beer.
Their “Draft Beer (Medium)” is normally 500 yen, but during Happy Hour it’s half price at 250 yen.
With the “otoshi” appetizer (350 yen) as my snack, I immediately had another beer.
I think I’ll stick with beer all day today.
For food, I ordered this first.
It’s “Beef Tendon with Green Onion Ponzu” (650 yen).
The rich flavor of slowly simmered beef tendon is made refreshing with green onion ponzu and momiji-oroshi grated daikon with chili.
Since it was beef tendon, sake briefly crossed my mind, but I stayed focused and went for my third beer.
After all, beef tendon goes well with any kind of alcohol.
Next up was this: “Chicken Skin Gyoza” (580 yen).
As the name suggests, these are gyoza wrapped in chicken skin, and the savory richness of the chicken fat blends into the gyoza filling for an indescribably delicious taste.
It’s basically telling you, “Drink beer!”
So, beer number four.
Now I think it’s about time to order something to finish things off.
For the finale, I chose the “Two-Flavor Rice Balls with Plum and Salmon” (480 yen).
Thanks to Happy Hour, I got to drink plenty, so I’m very satisfied.
I definitely want to keep actively going after Happy Hour deals from now on!

I went a little over, didn’t I…
But for this price, being able to eat and drink this much is excellent value.
