Several retail and dining facilities may be coming to the former Takasu Higashi Elementary School site

It looks like Hanshin Electric Railway will be building a number of retail and dining facilities on the former Takasu Higashi Elementary School site.

The address is 1-1-38 Takasucho, Nishinomiya, Hyogo 663-8141.

Retail, dining, and service-related shops will be built

The facilities are expected to include the following:

• Retail shops
• Restaurants and cafés
• Service-related stores

It seems that around 7 to 8 buildings will be constructed for these facilities.

A lawn plaza will also be developed as a community space. It may be usable for events and similar activities.

The site is about 3,000 tsubo!

The area is 1.2 hectares. In tsubo, that is about 3,030 tsubo, so it is a fairly large piece of land.

A licensed nursery school will be built on part of the former Takasu Higashi Elementary School site, probably along the southern side of the land, while Hanshin Electric Railway appears to be planning the rest of the site.

There will be no housing or hourly parking lots

Regarding the former Takasu Higashi Elementary School site, Nishinomiya City apparently sought proposals from planners on the condition that the following types of facilities would not be allowed.

• Detached housing
• Apartment buildings
• Nursing homes
• Hourly parking lots
• Car dealerships

It seems these facilities have been ruled out.

Nishinomiya City was apparently looking for a plan that would contribute to local community development and create liveliness.

Hopefully, it will become a place people can get excited about.

We may find out around summer when it will open

Nothing specific has been decided yet, so it is unclear when it will be built.

The expected timeline going forward is:

1. Early May: Nishinomiya City and Hanshin Electric Railway conclude a basic agreement
2. Around summer: Hanshin Electric Railway holds a briefing session for local residents
3. Around autumn: Submission of the business plan

So it seems we may gradually learn what will be built after the local briefing session around summer.
