It looks like the “2019 Spring Starry Sky Guide in Nishinomiya Gardens” will be held at Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens on April 20.
After looking into it, it seems nearly 1,000 people came to the event last summer. It’s a very popular event.
There are three types of events
The “2019 Spring Starry Sky Guide” is broadly divided into three types of events.
You can take part in all of them for free.
1. Stargazing Session
- Time: 19:20~20:30
- Place: Sky Garden (4th floor, outdoors)
- What will you do?: Look at Mars and stars from winter-to-spring constellations through telescopes
It seems you’ll be able to view typical spring constellations through various astronomical telescopes while listening to explanations from starry sky guides.
The event will be canceled in case of bad weather.
2. Twilight Concert & Starry Sky Talk
This event is made up of two parts: a concert and a starry sky talk.
Part 1: Twilight Concert
- Time: 17:00~17:30
- Place: Konoha Stage (4th floor, outdoors)
With the outdoor view at Gardens, the spring breeze, twilight, and music, it might leave you feeling something hard to put into words.
Part 2: Uraran’s Starry Sky Talk
- Time: 19:00~20:00
- Place: Konoha Stage (4th floor, outdoors)
This is a talk event about stars and currently popular space topics, explained in a way that’s easy for children to understand. There may also be a talk about black holes.
3. Traveling Planetarium Screening
- Time: 14:00~19:00 (about 15 minutes per screening)
- Place: Gardens Hall (4th floor)
- What will you do?: Look at Mars and stars from winter-to-spring constellations through telescopes
- Numbered tickets: From 13:00, numbered tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in front of the Gardens Hall lobby
In Closing
This event appears to have been held since the summer of 2009. Back then, there were about 200 participants, but now it has grown to around 1,000. It’s a major event. Apparently, some people even cheer with excitement when they look through the telescopes.
At first, there were only four telescopes, but this time there will be 11. Since this year marks the memorable year when a photo of a black hole was captured, maybe this is one big wave we just have to ride?!
