It Will Be Built on a 1.3-Hectare Site
It looks like various facilities, including a barbecue area, will be built in Zone ⑤, the “lively activity creation zone.”

How Big Is It?
The area is 1.3 hectares.
That said, “hectares” may not be the easiest unit to picture. In tsubo, it’s 3,932 tsubo.
That’s about one-third the size of Koshien Stadium.
What Will Be Built?
According to the source, this lively activity creation zone will be divided into three areas.
Specifically, it will look like this:
- Free Area: some kind of private-sector facility
- Park Area: open space, parking, and more
- Active Area: barbecue area
Nishinomiya City plans to have private operators come up with the specific details of what to build and then operate the facilities.
There’s a strong chance the barbecue area will be built. Whether it will be paid or not seems to be something that will be decided later.
When Will It Be Completed?
It is scheduled to be completed in fiscal 2022.
The expected timeline is as follows:
- A private operator to run the facilities will be selected in fiscal 2020
- Design and construction will start by fiscal 2021

The ground in the foreground will remain as the North Multipurpose Open Space.
The area from beyond that toward the left is the “lively activity creation zone.”

It’s like an animal trail, almost like a small forest.
It’s quite overgrown.
Some Areas Are Already Under Development
The skateboard plaza and dedicated bicycle area have already been completed.
There are still some areas under development.
On this map, it’s the free open space in the lower left, the multipurpose artificial turf ground (half-size), and the parking lot.
The free open space is 3,700㎡.
The sign says, “Construction work is underway at Nishinomiya-hama Park.”
This open space is expected to be completed by October 18.
It looks like it will become a fairly large open space.
Construction vehicles were also on site working.
The Play Area Has Not Been Developed Yet
This is the planned location for the “Play Area,” which will serve as a children’s playground↓
It seems to be 8,000㎡ in size.
No development work has started here yet.
From the opposite direction↓
It seems the plan is to make it an “adventure play area,” with muddy play spaces and playground equipment for young children.
Final Thoughts
Although it has been called Nishinomiya General Park, if barbecue facilities and private-sector facilities are added, it will probably become a park that attracts many times more visitors than it does now.
There are still about three years until completion, but I’m looking forward to seeing what gets built.
