This time, we visited “鯖一(SABAichi)今津店” near Imazu Station.
A running friend told us that their specialty, “overnight-dried mackerel”, is incredibly delicious, so this became a “run-and-stroll” outing. After running a 10 km route around the Imazu area, we headed in with our friends to investigate.
“鯖一 今津店” Food

This is the specialty we came for: “Homemade Soy Sauce-Marinated Fatty Mackerel, Overnight-Dried”, 900 yen for one whole piece.
Other sizes are available too: 500 yen for half, and 300 yen for a quarter.
An incredibly thick, luxurious piece of mackerel! It has that freshly grilled, fragrant aroma, and the rich, savory oil seeps out with every bite… it makes the “draft beer” (450 yen) go down fast!

5 Raw Oysters (900 yen)
Of course, they also have plenty of amazing seafood besides mackerel.
These raw oysters were plump and bouncy. When you slurp one down, the umami and a gently briny aroma spread through your mouth♪

Homemade Fluffy Satsuma-age (550 yen)
This satsuma-age was hearty, about the size of a hamburger steak.
It has a soft, delicate texture, and juicy dashi seeps out from inside. A standout dish♪

Kujo Green Onions with Vinegared Miso (400 yen)
The sweet, crisp Kujo green onions pair perfectly with the vinegared miso.

Horse Mackerel Namerou (600 yen)
A chunky style of namerou. The firm texture really brings out the umami of the horse mackerel.

Butterbur Sprout Tempura (600 yen)
To finish, we savored that “grown-up bitterness.” Irresistible.

We couldn’t really take photos inside because it was almost full, but the front area has counter seating with about 10 seats. The back of the restaurant has table seating, and the space extends quite far in.
