The other day, we held the Nishi2 event “Manbo Tunnel Walk”!
It was a fundraising activity for the WHO’s COVID-19 Response Fund (#HOMETEAMHERO).
Through Instagram, it’s growing into a movement that started in Nishinomiya and is spreading across the sea to the world!

The “Manbo Tunnel Walk” was a great success!
Six people walked for an hour and a half, donating a total of $9 to the COVID-19 Response Fund♪ (One hour of exercise counted as a $1 donation.)
Amazingly, around 1.32 million people worldwide took part in the same kind of effort, and a total of $1 million was donated. (Ended on June 7)

Around the same time, the “Nationwide GPS Connected Art Message” was launched from Nishinomiya.
Seventy-four volunteers from Japan and overseas ran or walked to create one letter of the alphabet each.
By connecting those letters, the project sent a message of encouragement through social media to people struggling because of COVID-19.
There are lots of Nishinomiya residents in this photo too! (The “O” was drawn by going once around Koshien!)
Maybe someone you know is in there too!?

By the way, I was in charge of the “R.”
Wait, that’s not Nishinomiya! I can already hear the comments coming.
I ended up doing it while I was doing my “one lap around Osaka Castle training.” Sorry!! (TOT)
Reference / [Short video] How do you even draw letters on a map?

RUN FOR SMILES!
The “M” was drawn in Maizuru, and the “L” was drawn in Itami!!✨
Any Miyakko in there, I wonder!?

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!
A boy ran in Toyama Prefecture to help deliver this message across Japan!
Thank you for the energy!!

This Nishinomiya-born initiative was also featured in the Kobe Shimbun newspaper (June 6 morning edition)!

And amazingly, this circle spread to the world as well, becoming the top post on the Instagram of the running app “adidas RUNNING”, which has over 150 million registered users worldwide!
Thirteen world ambassadors from eight countries drew and shared the message.
By the way, if you read it from 12 o’clock, it says ONE FOR ALL. If you read it from 6 o’clock, it says ALL FOR ONE!
“One for all, and all for one”^^
Finally
It’s exciting to see an event that started in Nishinomiya spread around the world!
As Nishinomiya Tsushin, we’d also like to keep holding more wonderful “Nishi2 events” that can stand alongside the “Manbo Tunnel Walk” and the “GPS Connected Art Message.”
Everyone, please come and join us♪^^
