On Saturday, November 29, we went to the preview event for “小田歯科,” which opened in Shukugawa at the former Baskin-Robbins site.

The place where Baskin-Robbins used to be.

It now has a natural-looking exterior! Inside, it’s super futuristic and fun for a dental clinic. Let’s get started!
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 9-25 Kudetani-cho, Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture.

On the day of the preview event, a crepe food truck was there too.
Watch how they make their entrance↓
Here are 小田歯科’s Director Yasushi Oda and his son, Dr. Taiga Oda. Believe it or not, they’re a father-and-son pair of dentists. Wait, are they comedians too?! Their impact was so strong it caught us totally off guard. The director recommended a crepe to us, and…

It was the colorful “Orchestra” crepe, packed with every kind of fruit. With that, let’s head inside the clinic.

From the entrance alone, the inside makes you go, what is going on here?! The round part where Shachomi is reflected is an interior window. Like Little My from Moomin

When we walked in saying, “Excuse us!”, the receptionist’s smile was almost blindingly bright.

Still, the entrance is super colorful! I always had this image of dental clinics being mostly white, but when it’s this colorful, it feels like you’ve come somewhere to play.

This is the space with that round interior window from earlier. It’s…

A secret-base-like kids’ space where you can do the “So your name is Totoro!” (Mei’s line) moment.

And what is this?

A canvas where little people live
Apparently, this is a product by teamLab, which has been hugely active in all kinds of pavilions at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

Kids can play just by drawing a line with their finger in one smooth swooosh. It’s an amazing high-tech monitor that turns waiting time into game time.
Apparently it’s designed so even nervous kids get excited before their appointment, saying things like “Try pressing there!” and “Whoa, it fell!”

Ah, Ebessan bamboo branches are here too! The mirror has such a gorgeous feel it looks like it could appear in Thermae Romae. This chaotic vibe kind of reminds us of the place before the move lol

This is the hygienist care room.

It’s spacious and has a fun atmosphere.

So many Ghibli characters! It feels like a child’s room.

You can kind of make out what’s happening outside the window. The head nurse was playing around with the kids outside lol.

Apparently, the pattern on this glass window is inspired by Shukugawa. An unexpected Nishinomiya touch! It does have that winding look, doesn’t it?

The director is glued to it lol

The next exam room has a cool monitor.

It shows high-tech-looking images, like something you’d see in a TV drama.

This. You can view CT images sliced from all kinds of angles. Apparently, they can clearly check even the roots of wisdom teeth. Of course, implants
