Avoiding crowded times and places, today I headed out in the evening wearing a urethane mask for some training on the mountain trails.
My destination was “Kanno-ji Temple.”
After reaching the goal, I was wandering around the temple grounds to catch my breath when I spotted something adorable!
A beautifully lined-up group of Buddhist statues.
Among them, there is one figure shining with a noticeably different presence.
Let’s take a closer look.
Oh!
There it is.
It’s an adorable “tanuki.”
It was enshrined together with the Buddhist statues.
That aside…
Ah!
There’s a dachshund too!!!!!!
Why it’s here is a mystery, but it’s cute, so that’s good enough!

Finally
The bell at Kanno-ji Temple was also closed off due to the effects of COVID-19.
I hope that at the end and beginning of the year, all of us Nishinomiya residents will be able to ring it together again!
