On August 1, 2019, Hyogo Prefecture released a hazard map (storm surge inundation forecast area map) for the Hanshin area, assuming storm surge damage exceeding 5 meters.
In this article, we have enlarged and listed the damage forecast maps for each area of Nishinomiya.
As you can see by looking at them, they are pretty severe.
That is because this map appears to be based on a maximum-scale scenario, including river flooding and levee failures.
Knowing the situation around your home, workplace, school, and other places in advance can help you feel more prepared.
We added facilities that can serve as landmarks, but some may be missing.

Storm Surge Inundation Map for All of Nishinomiya City
This is a storm surge damage forecast map for all of Nishinomiya City, assuming storm surge damage exceeding 5 meters.
The heaviest damage is expected in the southwest, excluding the reclaimed coastal islands
The forecast assumes more severe inundation damage around southwestern Nishinomiya than in the most coastal areas of Nishinomiyahama, Koshienhama, and Naruohama. (By town name, this includes areas around Hamakoshien, Naruocho, Kasayacho, Higashi-Naruocho, Ikebirakicho, Komatsu Minamimachi, and Satoyamacho.)
Among the coastal island areas, Naruohama is expected to see the most damage
Of Nishinomiyahama, Koshienhama, and Naruohama, Naruohama is expected to have the greatest inundation damage. Most of Koshienhama and Nishinomiyahama are forecast to have damage of under 3 meters.
Could flooding reach Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi?!
To the north, inundation damage extends to the area around Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station.
It also appears to reach the Koshimizucho area near National Route 171.

Earthquakes cannot be predicted in advance, but storm surge damage is caused by typhoons, so forecasts are issued ahead of time.
As with Typhoon No. 21 last year (2018), forecasts are issued before a powerful typhoon arrives, so it is safest to evacuate in advance.
