The “Nishi2 Survey (temporary name)(We might do another survey to decide this name too)” corner features “a quick question for readers + results from the previous question”👏 Updated every Friday at 8 p.m.
(Hiratsu does surveys too. This is a project inspired by Hirakata Tsushin.)
The Previous Survey Was
“Where do you go in Nishinomiya for a super cheap lunch?”

Survey period: January 14 to January 19
Number of responses: 22
The survey before last was about luxury meals, and this time it’s super cheap lunches♪
Everyone wants to know where you can get a bargain lunch, right~!!

松鳳
For Chinese food, it’s always been this place❗️

居酒屋万本店
A sashimi boat set meal for 1,000 yen! It looks great and is really filling. Izakaya lunches have beautiful, tasty fish! Rice refills are free, and if you add them on LINE, you might get coffee or ice cream! The fried chicken set meal is also recommended since you can enjoy it in three different flavors♪

いっちょう
We tried the addictively spicy “Taiwan mazesoba” at Menya Iccho along Nakatsuhama Line [Nishi2 Gourmet]
Free rice refills, and they bring out the whole rice cooker! I think the fried chicken was something like 4 pieces for 100 yen too!

中華kitchen れんげ

We tried the daily “A Lunch” at Chuka Kitchen Renge near Nishinomiya Police Station [Nishi2 Gourmet]
They have three kinds of lunch menus, and the portions are generous. The mapo rice bowl and mini ramen lunch in particular is 880 yen and really fills you up.

たけふく
We tried the popular “Kakuni Curry Bowl” at Takefuku, famous for katsudon, near Gardens along Yamate Kansen [Nishi2 Gourmet]
Double katsudon! It’s addictively delicious!

桃園(Chinese restaurant in Imazu)
Lunch is 700 yen, and you can choose rice from small to extra-large. The extra-large is seriously like the huge servings you see in manga. Maybe about two go? Every menu item has a solid portion too. Compared to a convenience store, maybe about three times as much? Plus pickles and soup. I like the flavor of every dish.

It’s not a Nishinomiya-only restaurant, but it’s cheap and delicious!! The super difficult spot-the-difference puzzles are great for passing the time while you wait.

うどん・そば アサヒ
We tried the “Nishin Soba” at Udon/Soba Asahi on the 1st floor of ACTA Nishinomiya West Building [Nishi2 Gourmet]
Kake udon and soba start at 230 yen, the cheapest in the area. Beer is 290 yen too. They have a specialty called Nishikita Soba, which I recommend.

リプレ
It’s a cafe, but the food has a home-cooked taste and the portions are huge. Basically everything is a large serving.

The rice seemed to be stuck in the machine for refills, so I only meant to eat a little, but it suddenly turned into a manga-sized serving.

ハングリーウィッチ
The “Sweet-and-Sour Pork Set Meal” at Hungry Witch near Kwansei Gakuin University [Nishi2 Gourmet]
I trembled a little at the size of the large Chinese-style katsudon.

ぬぅ坊

The “Chicken Nanban Set Meal” at ぬぅ坊 along Yamate Kansen [Nishi2 Gourmet]
Their self-proclaimed “Japan’s best chicken nanban” was a superb dish that was a little different from the usual.

八角楼
The daily lunch is 650 yen, and you can fill up with either a main dish, rice, and soup, or noodles and rice. The regular menu is around 500 to 1,000 yen. However, they’re only open at lunchtime on weekdays.
