There are two restaurants called “Bar Salu” on the northwest side of Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station.
One is French and the other is Italian, and this time I visited the Italian one. (The French one is currently closed due to the effects of COVID-19.)
It’s an Italian restaurant centered around pasta and hamburg steak, but at lunchtime they also have an unusual menu item called “meat hitsumabushi.”
What kind of dish is it?

Italian Bar “Bar Salu” Food

From the hitsumabushi menu, I ordered the “Beef Kainomi” (1,150 yen).
Let’s open the ohitsu rice tub.

Here it is. Beautiful, isn’t it?
On top of the rice are shredded omelet and beef kainomi.

You eat it the same way as eel hitsumabushi.
First, enjoy it as is.
The rich flavor of the lean beef goes perfectly with the rice.
The sauce is similar to what you’d find with eel hitsumabushi.
It’s a flavor that also pairs very well with meat.

Next, add condiments to your liking.
With beef, wasabi is the way to go.
The aroma of the green onion also comes through nicely.

And finally, pour the dashi broth over it.
The sauce, condiments, and dashi blend together, letting you enjoy yet another flavor.
It was a great-value lunch where you can enjoy the same meat in three different ways in one meal.
