Battle Details
When “Hijiri-an” in Koshienguchi told “Sakanagokoro” that they would be selling eel for Doyo no Ushi Day, Sakanagokoro responded with “Let’s settle once and for all who’s on top,” and that’s how this eel battle began.

Sakanagokoro was recently featured on Nishitsu as a much-talked-about shop that sells amazingly good-value sushi on weekends only.
Hijiri-an↓
Hijiri-an is also listed in Nishinomiya’s gourmet guidebook “Nishinomiya Gourmet Master.” Nishitsu has written about it once before as well.
Recently, they’ve been selling “umaki,” but instead of wrapping eel in egg, they wrap things in eel, and they’ve also been releasing buzzworthy items one after another, like a sea urchin-packed bento dedicated to uni lovers.
In Closing
Watching this exchange made me think, “Shopping streets are so entertaining!” Somehow, it feels like a glimpse of the future of shopping streets.
Who would’ve thought these two ultra-unique shops would have an eel battle… It makes you want to buy from both and compare them, doesn’t it? Doyo no Ushi Day is July 21. Which one will you all reserve from?
