Just west of Hankyu Shukugawa Station, we tried the takeout bento “Kappa no Obento” from the long-established “Wayoshu-sai Kappa”!
These handmade bentos are made by the owner, who has been running an izakaya in Nishinomiya for 24 years.
We’ll also introduce the “Choi-nomi Set” (1,000 yen including tax), an absolute must-check for anyone who loves alcohol, and an incredibly good-value takeout menu item!

“Wayoshu-sai Kappa” Food

This is the Kappa bento we ordered this time: the “Chicken Nanban Bento” (900 yen including tax).
It’s a body-friendly bento made without preservatives or additives.
The thoughtful little message attached to it is heartwarming and makes you smile♪

It looks beautiful too!
In addition to the main chicken nanban, it comes with simmered dishes, salad, pickles, and more.

Here’s the main dish, the chicken nanban!
Juicy and generously portioned!
As expected from an izakaya’s chicken nanban… just looking at it makes you want a beer. Drool… ( ´Å`)

Fluffy, piping-hot white rice.
Pile the chicken nanban on top and dig in!
Just imagining it feels like you could polish off a second beer.

The nutritional balance is clearly well thought out too.
“Tender eggplant ohitashi with Japanese dashi,” “simmered daikon and carrot,” and “flavor-soaked koya tofu”

A comforting potato salad with a gentle flavor.
The daikon sprouts add a nice accent♪
“Wayoshu-sai Kappa” Takeout Menu

There are four kinds of “Kappa no Obento.” In addition to the “Chicken Nanban Bento” we tried this time, there are also “Hire Katsu Bento,” “Yurinchi Bento,” and “Bulgogi Bento”. They are all 900 yen including tax.
To help reduce food loss, they ask that you make a reservation by the day before.

Here are the four kinds.
Hire Katsu Bento (top left), Bulgogi Bento (top right), Chicken Nanban Bento (bottom left), and Yurinchi Bento (bottom right).

And here’s some must-see information for anyone who loves drinks!
A set featuring six assorted side dishes from this lineup is called the “Choi-nomi Set” (1,000 yen including tax)!
Of course, it’s perfect for taking home and enjoying with a drink, but if you simply prepare white rice at home, it also works as a hugely satisfying set of side dishes for a meal! They say same-day reservations are OK for this one. If you’re wondering what to pair with your drinks or struggling with daily side dishes, why not brighten up your table for 1,000 yen?(^^)
