Many of you may have seen it on TV news and elsewhere, but the notice says that Ikkyu-san’s operator, Dynamics Co., Ltd., has entered bankruptcy proceedings.

What’s around Okonomiyaki & Teppanyaki Ikkyu-san Nishinomiya
Across the street is Henri Charpentier.
If you go this way, you’ll find Nikujiro next door, the seafood restaurant Tai no Tai, and then National Route 43. Keep going and you’ll head toward Hanshin Nishinomiya Station.
In the opposite direction, there’s the eel restaurant Chikuyotei, Starbucks, Hakushika Classics, and then Rinko Line. Continue on and you’ll cross Nishinomiya Bridge toward Nishinomiyahama.
What will happen to Nikujiro?
The place people are wondering about is Nikujiro. It’s a restaurant connected to Dynamics, the same operator behind Ikkyu-san.
Nikujiro fans! Don’t worry.
It looks like they’re still open!
When we spoke with someone at the restaurant, they said Nikujiro is a franchise, so it’s operating as usual.
They also showed us the menu.
As a limited-time menu item, they’re currently serving curry meat soba. Finish it off with rice. You can’t go wrong. I’m a light eater, so I wonder if they’d do half noodles and half rice.
Personally, that old-school soy sauce ramen really hits the spot.
They also have a solid lineup of set meals.

On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, they’re open 11:00–22:00 (LO: 21:30)!
Finally
In Nishinomiya City, the operator Dynamics had reportedly been running Ikkyu-san here as well as restaurants like the izakaya chain Akakara, including franchise locations. This is said to be the largest restaurant bankruptcy connected to the COVID-19 pandemic. By the way, when we called Akakara in Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi, the phone just kept ringing. Ikkyu-san was a family-restaurant-style okonomiyaki place with parking, so I’m sure plenty of people used it often. I’d been there several times myself, so it’s sad to see it go.
