Even though September has started, the heat is still intense 🥵 While many pools close as soon as summer vacation ends, did you know there’s a place where water flows year-round and kids can play?
It’s called Minami Ashiyahama Water Park “Seseragi”. You can play in the water here for free 🙌

The address is 2-1 Yokocho, Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.
It’s just after you cross Shukugawa Bridge from Nishinomiyahama and enter Ashiya City.
On the first weekend after September began, we played there for about two hours from 1 p.m. There were only about three other groups coming and going, so it was uncrowded and really comfortable!
As noted on the official website, the water depth ranges from 5 cm to 30 cm, making it a perfect spot for crawling babies to try water play for the first time 👶🏻
Water sprays out from the walls, flows down like a waterfall from above, and runs through the water area from one end to the other, north to south.The kids had fun racing empty plastic bottles and leaves along the flowing water 😆
This water play area is next to a sewage treatment plant. The water is advanced-treated and then further membrane-treated, which apparently filters out fine particles, so they say you can use it with peace of mind.
One drawback is that there’s hardly any shade. The benches don’t have roofs either. The shade from the trees along the sidewalk was fairly cool at this time of year 🍃
The Hankyu Bus stop “Ashiya-shi Sogo Koen-mae” is right in front 🚌
For restrooms, you can use the management building at Miratap Park Ashiya (Ashiya City General Park) across the road. Or you can use the restrooms outside the athletics stadium near the north parking lot.
The closest parking lot to Minami Ashiyahama Water Park is the North Parking Lot of Miratap Park Ashiya (Ashiya City General Park) 🅿️
It’s diagonally across the road from Minami Ashiyahama Water Park. Please use this pedestrian crossing. Since it’s directly under the Hanshin Expressway Route 5 Bayshore Line, there’s lots of shade, which helps keep the car from getting too hot even in summer 😄🅿️
The parking fees are reasonable too 👍
Ashiyahama is close to Nishinomiya City and easy to get to, and there are actually lots of other fun places to visit with kids too〜!!
