The “Izakaya 3,000 Yen Project” started with the idea of seeing how much you can eat and drink at an izakaya for 3,000 yen, and the number of places we’ve visited has grown quite a bit.
So we thought we’d put together the articles from the Izakaya 3,000 Yen Project by area.
For the first installment, we’ll start with the ever-popular Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi area.

This is the izakaya “Kiteya.”

When we went for the article, highballs were 99 yen each, and it looks like they’re still doing that deal.

Charcoal-Grilled Yakitori “Tsukuneya Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch”

This is the yakitori restaurant “Tsukuneya.”
There are two locations in Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi, but the menu and prices are the same.
As the name suggests, their tsukune chicken meatballs are the specialty.

This is the yakitori restaurant “Hakken Sakaba.”
The “Hakken Highball” is a great deal.
The “Hakken Gyoza” is also recommended.

Gathering Spot “Za Watami Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station Branch”

This is “Za Watami,” part of a major chain.
The wide variety of menu items and long opening hours are nice.
On the days before Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, they’re open until 5 a.m.

Izakaya “Fujiya Main Branch”

This is the izakaya “Fujiya.”
Near the station, there are both this “Main Branch” and the “Mingei Branch,” and the menu and prices are the same.
It looks like they recently started serving kushikatsu as well.

“Gyoza Shokudo Maruken Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch”

This is “Gyoza Shokudo Maruken Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch,” which is part of the same group as the “Hakken Sakaba” mentioned earlier.
In addition to their famous gyoza, they serve all kinds of dishes, including hot pot, fried foods, grilled dishes, and stir-fries.
They also have an unusual frozen-style lemon sour.

Japanese-Western Dining “Akaoniya Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch”

This is “Akaoniya Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch,” located on the first basement floor of a building right by the station.
They offer a truly wide variety of both food and drinks.
Of course they have standard menu items, but they also serve many creative dishes.
The interior has a relaxed atmosphere, so it’s recommended for anyone who wants to take their time enjoying food and drinks.

“Ondorian Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch”

This is a newly opened izakaya serving charcoal-grilled yakitori, located where the ramen shop “Baccha” used to be.
Apparently their fried chicken is also a specialty, and they have a solid lineup of chicken dishes beyond yakitori, as well as plenty of non-chicken small plates.
They also have a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, making it a place where you can enjoy all kinds of food and drink pairings.

Charcoal Grill and Kiln-Baked Dishes “Sanaka Hankyu Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch”

This yakitori restaurant was originally located near Hanshin Koroen Station, but it has now moved here and operates several locations, including this one.
In addition to a variety of charcoal-grilled and kiln-baked dishes, ramen has apparently become one of their specialties as well.
They also have standing-drink seats that are more affordable than table seating.

“Akakara Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Branch”

This is an izakaya from a nationwide chain, and this location has been around for about five years.
In addition to hot pot with selectable spice levels, the restaurant is known for dishes like “seseri” chicken neck meat and fried chicken.
They also offer set meals for first-time visitors.
