A Japanese sweets shop called “笹外郎屋(Sasa Uirouya)” has opened in Nishidacho under the Hankyu elevated tracks.
(Info provided by Amazon-san, Kaeitsu @ Nishitsu SP, kid3-san, and Horutama-san)
Here it is↓

It looks like it opened yesterday, Sunday, July 7. “Sasa” (bamboo leaf) and Tanabata are a perfect match〜🎋
Here it is on the map↓
The address is 1-3 Nishidacho, Nishinomiya, Hyogo.
Around “笹外郎屋”

It’s on the south side of Hankyu Shukugawa Sun Life, under the Hankyu elevated tracks.

Across the way is Kida Acupuncture Clinic.

If you go this way, you’ll reach Route 171.

In the opposite direction, you’ll find places like sen no Daidokoro, and if you keep going, you’ll reach the Osawa Nishinomiya Line.
We got a little peek inside
Kaeitsu, a Nishitsu supporter, went inside for a quick look.

So many flowers. Looks like they have lots of people cheering them on〜

They’ve got some really nice plates too.

Here too! Apparently they also sell tableware. Maybe that’s uirou in the photo.

Kaeitsu-san tried the cold-brew hojicha and said it was so good they drank it down in one go.

Looks like there are four flavors of sasa uirou. I want to try the amanatsu citrus one~~~

Wrapped in bamboo leaves, it feels pretty authentic.

The one they had was the azuki flavor. They said it was jiggly, not too sweet, and delicious〜 Apparently uirou has a jiggly texture.
Added 7/9
Usapi, a Nishitsu reader, also went〜.

Comment from Usapi-san
It was already past the 4 p.m. closing time, but when we arrived in front of the shop by 🚴♀️, the owner came out from inside with a smile and said, “We only have shiro left, but if you’d like…” and invited my daughter and me in.

It had a gentle sweetness, and was such an elegant uirou that you could easily eat several.
It was my daughter’s first time trying uirou too, and she seems completely hooked, saying, “It’s jiggly and delicious〜.”
I can’t wait to try the other flavors!!
(The cold-brew hojicha was also delicious, so I bought some tea leaves too😊)
By the way, it seems they often sell out in this order: limited-time flavor (currently amanatsu) → azuki → matcha → shiro.
They said, “Maybe all the flavors are available in the morning…?”

Lastly
The owner apparently decided to start making sasa uirou after watching the TV program “Professional: Shigoto no Ryugi.” That’s some impressive initiative〜. If you’re curious about what “sasa uirou” is like, definitely check it out. Once things settle down, they’re also planning to open a cafe serving Japanese tea and wagashi.
Amazon-san, Kaeitsu @ Nishitsu SP, kid3-san, and Horutama-san, thank you for the information!!
