The other day, we investigated and wrote about “Gabeno Castle,” Nishinomiya’s hidden landmark that nobody knows about (!?).
This time, we went to check out the spectacular views from Kannon-yama, a 526-meter-high mountain just to the north!
Here it is on the map↓
It’s just west of Jurinji Temple.

The entrance to the “Jurinji Sando” approach is at the intersection of “Kabutoyama Daishi-michi” and the “Osawa Nishinomiya Line.”
Time to start our uphill training.

We arrived at the main hall of Jurinji Temple.
The grounds are so beautiful that every view looks like a postcard.
If you go to the right of the main hall, there’s a side path leading to the trailhead.

The sign at the trailhead↑
You can really feel the history here, especially in how perfectly hard it is to see!

Zoom in!!
There are two routes to the summit: the “Panorama Route” and the “Seseragi Route.”
For the way up, we decided to take the steep “Panorama Route,” and for the way down, the gentler “Seseragi Route”♪

The entrance to the “Panorama Route”↑
A bridge made of just three thin logs laid across a ditch!?
Right away, it feels like an exciting adventure is about to begin♪

The steep climb continues.

Climbing Kannon-yama’s “Panorama Course”!

On paths where you might get lost, subtle arrows guide the way.

There are even spots that make you want to shout, “Fight! One shot!”

A spot that feels like rock climbing

Almost at the summit!!

We made it to the summit!!
A rock with “Kannon-yama” written in large characters welcomes you♪

A huge panoramic view!!
If it were sunny, I bet you could see even farther! I’d love to climb it again with everyone after COVID!!
In the center is Kitayama Reservoir, where a face-shaped rock was discovered♪

The view from the summit of Kannon-yama!

For the descent, we took the relaxed, easygoing, spacious “Seseragi Route”♪
You can hear birds singing.

There are lots of signs, so you can keep going with peace of mind♪
In places where there was no one around, we did a bit of trail running.

We made it safely back down!
This is the entrance and exit for the other hiking trail.
Finally
Kannon-yama lets you enjoy two wonderful routes.
Whether you’re walking while taking in the panorama or listening to birdsong along the way, it’s a soothing course that’s perfect for just the right amount of exercise!
If you’re looking to get moving again after COVID, why not stop by?
