The place we’re introducing this time, “神田 阪急西宮ガーデンズ店,” is a kappo soba restaurant on the 4th floor of Gardens.
It’s an open-style shop located near the entrance.
It’s another brand from the udon restaurant “杵屋,” and “そじ坊,” the soba restaurant in ACTA, is part of the same group.
They serve homemade soba made with buckwheat flour from Hokkaido, along with seasonal kappo-style dishes.

Kappo Soba “神田 阪急西宮ガーデンズ店” Food
There are lots of soba items on the menu, but they had an unusual dish called “tsuke soba,” so I decided to try it.
It’s cold soba chilled in cold water, eaten by dipping it into warm broth.
This time I ordered the “Seasonal Tempura and Duck Tsuke Soba” (2,630 yen).
It’s a set with two plates of tempura and duck tsuke soba.

First, the first plate of tempura.
The tempura items vary by season, but this time they were “shrimp,” “ginkgo nuts,” “eggplant,” and “maitake mushroom.”

The tempura is eaten with salt.
On the right is “snow salt,” and on the left is “sea salt.”
They say “snow salt” is best for vegetable tempura, while “sea salt” goes well with fish tempura.

The second plate of tempura.
It has “shrimp,” “white fish with shiso,” “oba leaf,” and “eringi mushroom.”

And here is the main dish, the “Duck Tsuke Soba.”
You can add sansho pepper to the warm broth to taste.

The duck meat looks beautiful.
The rich flavor of the duck goes really well with the aroma of the soba.
The dipping broth also has a strong bonito dashi flavor.

To finish, it has to be soba-yu.
You dilute the broth from earlier with the soba cooking water.

Use the soup spoon to transfer the broth into a teacup, then pour in the soba-yu.

It looks like this.
You can enjoy the soba and broth right to the very end.

They also had Japanese-style desserts, so I ordered this “Sobagaki Anmitsu” (630 yen).
You can choose either soba tea ice cream or matcha ice cream; the photo shows matcha ice cream.
It’s a Japanese sweet with “mitsumame,” “black beans,” “kanten jelly,” and “sobagaki,” topped with “matcha ice cream.”
It’s soba all the way to the very end.

Here is the menu.
Apparently, the menu is basically the same for both lunch and dinner.
They even have bento boxes and unaju eel rice boxes.

Since it’s an open-style restaurant, you can clearly see inside from the outside.
All seats are table seats.

It looks like this.
Of course, you can also see outside clearly from inside the restaurant, giving the place a somewhat open feel.
