Here’s the weekend weather and event information for Nishinomiya.
Rain is forecast for the weekend
Saturday the 27th is expected to be rainy with occasional breaks, with an 80% chance of precipitation, and a high of 32°C. It’ll be hot and humid. According to the hourly forecast, there will be light rain from 10:00 to 24:00.（It said it would be cloudy from 19:00 to 21:00. Since there are Bon Odori dances and fireworks on Saturday, we really hope that part of the forecast is right.）
Sunday the 28th will be cloudy with occasional sun, with a 40% chance of precipitation and a high of 33°C. It’ll be hot. Another forecast said “cloudy with temporary rain.” Looking at the hourly forecast, it seems like it won’t rain during the day and will stay cloudy.

Featured Events in Nishinomiya
Saturday the 27th
There are two featured events on Saturday.
The first one isn’t in Nishinomiya, but it’s the “Ashiya Summer Carnival” in neighboring Ashiya City. Since it’s right next door, people near the coast, up in the hills, or in tower apartments may be able to see it. It seems it will go ahead in light rain, so it’ll probably be okay. If you’re going, bring a raincoat. It’ll probably be hot and humid, though. If it’s canceled due to severe weather, the announcement will be posted on the official website.
The second is that lots of summer festivals will be held around the city. There’s quite a variety, including parks, elementary schools, and shrines. For details, please see the Nishinomiya “Neighborhood Summer Festival” Schedule 2019.
Sunday the 28th
There are two featured events on the 21st.
The first is the pedestrian paradise event held at Honwaka Shopping Street near JR Koshienguchi. Five members of the Nishinomiya Storks will be there, and there will also be inflatable play equipment kids will enjoy, plus a visit from the fire brigade.
The second is that summer festivals will be held in some of the same places as Saturday, though not all of them. It depends on the area, but if you went to the Ashiya fireworks on Saturday, it might be nice to go to a summer festival on Sunday.

This Week’s Wrap-Up
This week, I think the closing of “Chigusa Shobo” in Kurakuenguchi was the news that really shocked people in the area. Honestly, I mostly use Amazon these days, but I still really love real bookstores, and when a place that’s always been there disappears, it kind of leaves a hole in your heart.
There was a lot more going on this week too. Nishinomiya’s Coming of Age Ceremony will be able to be held at Koshien starting next year, Tigers ICOCA is being sold again, there was an election, and overall it was a week with plenty of big developments.
We also received lots of tips this week, including information about the closing of Chigusa Shobo, the Takasu Festa summer festival, and the interesting hakusai kitchen “Cortina” in Kubocho! We also got lots of comments on the site, Facebook, and Twitter, and I’ve been grinning because I’m so happy about it. The other Nishi2 members probably haven’t noticed yet.
Well then, the weekend is packed with events, so you may still be tired at the start of next week, but please enjoy it to the fullest. See you next week on Nishinomiya Tsushin!
